Cinderella

In our animation lecture today we were talking about an artist named Dan Haskett, a teachers of ours knew him when he was in new York working for Disney. So we got to see some great old sketches that Dan had done in the early 80's, one of the drawings we happened upon was a page of Dan's drawings of Cinderella from "Rock and Rule". Now I liked that movie, but I have to admit that story wise its...pretty bad. This movie pretty much destroyed Nelvana's chances at making feature films and getting out of TV shows and commercials.

One of my favorite characters in that movie would have to be Cinderella. Shes so well drawn and animated, she has a wonderful range of expression and is so hyper and animated. So with the really horrible pireted copy of "Rock and Rule" that I have, I went through, found some nice shots of Cindy, paused and did some expression exploration.

These drawings are mainly to showcase what my talent in the animation wolrd is, and that...is Clean Up. Its relaxing, and I enjoy it so much. Some have said that I am crazy, and thats true. But I have always had a very steady hand and even my "rough" work is rediculously clean.

These aren't the best drawings of Cinderella ever done, but this sin't really what I'm used to drawing charater wise, the style is so different from mine, and for a bout an hour of pause draw pause draw its not bad.

  1. Hi! I'm very glad you enjoyed Cindy. Just to correct your mistaken impression, Dan Haskett did not animate Cindy...I did. (I also went by the name Gian Celestri during my years at Nelvana...1977 thru 1983).

    Best,
    John (Gian) Celestri
